Almond Milk

Almond Milk

If you’re following a vegan, dairy-free, or lactose-intolerant lifestyle, almond milk is likely a go-to staple in your kitchen. It’s a fantastic alternative to cow’s milk, offering a light, nutty flavor that works well in coffee, smoothies, baked goods, and even savory dishes. But did you know that store-bought almond milk often contains preservatives, gums, and added sugars?

Almond milk is naturally low in calories while providing important nutrients like vitamin E, which supports skin health and acts as an antioxidant. It’s also a good source of healthy fats that promote heart health and help maintain stable blood sugar levels.

Making your own almond milk at home is not only simple but also ensures you get a pure, fresh, and nutrient-rich drink without unnecessary additives. Plus, homemade almond milk has a richer taste and a creamier texture compared to many commercial brands. With just a few ingredients and a blender, you can whip up your own batch in minutes!

Let’s dive into the benefits of its key ingredients and the step-by-step guide to making your own delicious almond milk.

How to Prepare

BLEND ALMONDS AND WATER. Drain almonds and discard soaking liquid. Place in blender and add 4 cups fresh water. Blend for 1 to 2 minutes until almonds are finely ground.

STRAIN MILK. Pour almond milk into a nut milk bag over a large bowl. Squeeze the bag so that the milk flows through the bag and into the bowl. The almond pulp should be left inside the bag.

REFRIGERATE MILK. Sweeten milk, if desired. Store milk in an airtight container in the coldest part of the refrigerator. The milk should last 2 to 3 days before spoiling.
