Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

There’s something about the holidays that just makes you want to cozy up with a warm drink. This gingerbread hot chocolate is perfect for warming up on a cold day, and it’s also delicious enough to serve at your next holiday party. With all of the flavors of gingerbread, this hot chocolate is sure to be a hit!

1-1/2 cups oat milk, divided

3/4 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

scant 1/4 tsp nutmeg

scant 1/4 tsp allspice

2-1/2 Tbsp raw cacao powder

1 Tbsp pure maple syrup

1/2 Tbsp black strap molasses

1 Tbsp arrowroot powder

*optional garnish – coconut whip cream, chocolate shavings, dash of cinnamon or cinnamon stick

How to Prepare

Pour 1 cup of the oat milk into a small saucepan. Add the rest of the ingredients except the arrowroot powder. Bring to a rapid simmer over medium heat, whisking occasionally.

Meanwhile, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup of milk with the arrowroot powder in a bowl until there are no clumps.

Once the hot chocolate is at a rapid simmer, pour in the arrowroot slurry. Whisk constantly until the mixture thickens, about 45 seconds.

Remove from heat and serve warm garnished as desired.
