Homemade Apple Butter

Homemade Apple Butter

In the world of holistic nutrition, few foods embody the essence of “food as medicine” quite like homemade apple butter. This humble spread is more than just a delicious condiment—it’s a powerful blend of healing ingredients that can nourish both body and soul.

At the heart of this recipe are apples, nature’s nutritional powerhouses. Each apple is a treasure trove of health-promoting compounds. Rich in quercetin, a potent antioxidant, apples help combat oxidative stress and inflammation. The soluble fiber found in apples supports digestive health, promotes gut microbiome balance, and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Recipe

3 lbs. (1.4 kg) apples, cored & chopped

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

½ tsp. ground ginger

¼ tsp. ground cloves

Apple Recipe Pack

How to Prepare

Combine apples, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and 2 fl oz. (60ml) water in a large pot. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft.

Use an immersion blender to puree the apples into applesauce, or mash with a fork for a chunkier texture.

Continue cooking on low heat, uncovered, for another 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring every few minutes until thickened.

Once thick, transfer to a glass jar.

Enjoy your Homemade Apple Butter!
