Mexican Spiced Steak with Pico de Gallo

Mexican Spiced Steak with Pico de Gallo

If you’re looking to bring some bold, sun-drenched flavors to your dinner table, this Mexican Spiced Steak with Pico de Gallo is the perfect place to start. Juicy ribeye gets a fragrant, smoky rub made from cumin, allspice, oregano, and just a hint of cinnamon—simple ingredients that come together to deliver seriously complex flavor. The marinade is brightened with fresh lime juice, which not only adds a zingy citrus note but also helps tenderize the steak for that perfect, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

What makes this dish even better? It’s not just about taste—it’s packed with natural benefits, too. Cumin and cinnamon are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and digestive support, while oregano brings antioxidants to the table. Allspice adds depth and warmth, traditionally used in Latin American cooking to round out savory dishes. And lime juice, besides adding that unmistakable tang, is rich in vitamin C and helps boost your immune system.

Served alongside a fresh, homemade Pico de Gallo (recipe linked below!), you get a bright, crunchy contrast to the richness of the steak. Tomatoes, onions, and cilantro come together in a salsa that’s not only refreshing, but also loaded with nutrients and hydrating ingredients—perfect for balancing out a hearty main course.

Whether you’re cooking up a special weekend dinner or looking to elevate your weeknight meals, this dish is fast, flavorful, and full of good-for-you ingredients. It’s a taste of Mexico in every bite, no passport required.

Ingredient Spotlight

10.5 oz. (300g) ribeye steak

2 limes, juiced

½ tsp. ground cumin

½ tsp. ground allspice

1 tsp. dried oregano

¼ tsp. ground cinnamon

2 servings of Pico de Gallo (Recipe here)

Beef Recipe Pack

How to Prepare

In a small bowl, mix half of the lime juice, cumin, allspice, oregano, cinnamon, and season with salt and pepper.

Brush the steak with the marinade and let it sit while you prepare any side dishes you might like, like Pico de Gallo.

Heat 1 tbsp. olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the steaks for about 2 minutes per side, or to your preferred doneness. Season with salt and pepper.

Slice the steak and serve with Pico de Gallo or your choice of sides. Enjoy!
